All dogs that have been certified by ATD are well-mannered, well-behaved dogs that enjoy meeting people, by sharing the four-legged love, fluff and getting all the ear scratches they can!

While most bite prevention programs focus on what to do when a stray or aggressive dog approaches a child, I Speak Doggie and Dog Stars programs represents a whole new take on dog safety. When 50% of our children are being bitten by a dog by the time they are 12 years old and 77% of bites come from the family or a friend’s dog – that’s an opportunity for education that anyone who loves kids or dogs simply cannot ignore. They’re staggering statistics and ones I want to help change – that’s why I present the Stop the 77 programs in schools.
Children are, by far, the most common victims of dog bites, but studies show that educating kids on how to act around dogs significantly increases appropriate behavior. K-9 Kudos is committed to helping kids learn how to act around ALL of the dogs they see in their lives whether their family owns one or not.
Stop the 77
“STOP THE 77” Program is a Dog Bite Prevention for preschool and Elementary aged children. K-9 Kudos is proud to bring this program to our wonderful Derby Community & surrounding school districts!
"I Speak Doggie" Program
Our I Speak Doggie program is designed specifically for preschool-aged kids. Doreen will bring fun and energy into educating some of the tiniest members of our community about the right way to behave around dogs. The aim of the program is to increase appropriate child-dog interactions in order to decrease the incidences of stress (for both kids and dogs) and the bites that can follow. “The program is really entertaining for the kids!” says Doreen, “Plus, the children get to practice the right way to pet a dog which makes them feel more comfortable and empowered.”
I Speak Doggie is a simple, fun and interactive program that focuses on teaching kids how to stay safe with the dogs they know and love. It’s only 40 minutes long and uses a music video to get this important message across with lyrics that are so catchy kids (and teachers!) keep singing about dog safety long after the workshop is over.
The Dog Stars program is designed specifically for elementary school-aged kids. Doreen will bring fun and energy into educating the younger members of our community about the right way to behave around dogs. The aim of the program is to increase appropriate child-dog interactions in order to decrease the amount of stress that dogs can feel around children and the bites that could follow.
Dog Stars is a simple and fun program that focuses on teaching kids how to really RESPECT the dogs they know and love. It’s only 30-40 minutes long and uses games and music videos with catchy lyrics to get this important message across, so the kids keep singing about dog safety long after the workshop is over.
"Dog Stars" Program
“The program is simple yet still comprehensive and really entertaining for the kids!” says Doreen, “They get to watch videos and play games that help them really understand dogs, and then take home colorful, interactive handouts to help educate their parents too.”
